Heavy Duty Exol Engine Oils Secure Latest ACEA Specifications.

11 January 2023

Exol Lubricants’ Taurus Euro Plus 10W-40 and Euro FE Plus 5W-30 heavy-duty engine oils have been upgraded to meet specifications in the ACEA 2022 Oil Sequences for Heavy Duty Engines.

ACEA’s new E8 and E11 replace the E6 and E9 specifications respectively, and the updated sequences cover both the historical needs of legacy engine technology, and incoming needs identified by European vehicle manufacturers and original equipment (OE) manufacturers.

As new powertrain technology is developed, so too are the oil sequences, to address the latest innovations resulting in improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. Oil and lubricant products with the latest accreditations provide confidence to customers that the application will be suitable for the latest powertrains.

Exol’s Taurus Euro Plus 10W-40 (M443) and Taurus Euro FE Plus (M502) can now claim the new E8 and E11 sequences. Both are heavy duty diesel engine oils that have been formulated to meet the latest low SAPS criteria and are designed to offer the user exceptional fuel saving benefits.

Paul Timmis, Group Technical Director at Exol Lubricants, said: “These latest upgrades to Taurus Euro Plus 10W-40 and Euro FE Plus 5W-30 show that they are future-proofed for the latest engine technology as well as satisfying the exacting criteria set out by ACEA, further demonstrating Exol’s credibility for producing high-quality engine and transmission oils for the commercial vehicle sector.”

Exol’s new gear oil provides outstanding component protection to extend equipment life and eliminates squawk and chatter in oil immersed braking systems.

Other benefits of Optifarm HP include improved anti-squawk performance in brake systems, excellent oxidation stability, outstanding anti-wear properties and low foaming.

Exol’s Optifarm HP is recommended for use in certain models of JCB, John Deere, Massey Ferguson, Case and Caterpillar where a high performance gear oil is required in axles and transmissions.

Optifarm HP is a suitable alternative for use where JCB standard 4000 / 2200 is specified.

New Exol Ex-Box

Exol’s new 20L bag in a box packaging is now available to order.  Please find attached the new Exol “EX-BOX” information leaflet. This new packaging will be launched on our website in the next few weeks.

Key points to consider are as follows:

The EX-BOX packaging is filled and on our shelves.  It’s available in single packs for the products listed on the attached leaflet.

All other lubricant grades are available in full pallets, with some minor exceptions.

The EX-BOX will cost slightly more than the standard plastic 20L. This is to cover the cost difference of this environmentally friendly packaging.

Removes many disposable issues previously encountered with plastic drums

We have made the introduction of the EX-BOX as accessible as possible. Hopefully being able to order one or two packs encourages you to give it a try!

Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you require any further information.

Changes are coming to some key engine oil specifications, but don’t panic, Exol already have everything covered. Every single Exol product that carries these performance claims has already been updated for compliance with the new standards.

The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), that produce the well-known "C" specifications for low SAPS engine oils, have updated their requirements. December 1st 2018 marks the cut-off date when all oils claiming the ACEA specifications C1, C2, C3, C4, A3/B3, A3/B4 & A5/B5 for passenger cars and light commercial vehicle engines, and E4, E6, E7 & E9 for heavy-duty commercial diesel engines must comply with this revision. This new standard also removes the A1/B1 category, replacing it with a new low SAPS "C5" classification.

The new C5 category focuses on fuel economy oils, such as Optima C5 VC 0W-20 (used in new Volvo passenger car petrol and diesel engines) and Optima FE 5W-20 (used in Ford EcoBoost petrol engines).

Other additions to the ACEA sequences include stringent requirements to address sludging, piston deposits and oxidation in the presence of biodiesel, and a new GDI (gasoline direct injection) engine test for passenger car petrol engine oils.

GDI engines have received a lot of attention in recent times, as LSPI issues (low speed pre-ignition or "superknock") have emerged in some of these applications. Engines oils have helped play a part in reducing this phenomenon, with the recent API (American Petroleum Institute) "SN Plus" and the General Motors dexos1™ Gen 2 specifications both introduced to counteract the effect. Exol meets these advanced requirements with Optima DX1 5W-30.

Commercial diesel engines have also received recent attention from the API, with the introduction of the new CK-4 low SAPS standard for diesel engine oil. This replaces the previous CJ-4 standard, and is available right now on Exol’s Taurus SHPD E9 15W-40.

Exol’s commitment to staying at the forefront of lubricant technology means that all of these complex new challenges have already been addressed, leaving customers to continue using and supplying our products with complete confidence.

Drifting With The Oil Store & Exol Oils

Powered by Exol! Team Clover Leaf has won 1st place in the Thailand Underground Drift "Class C” competition. The Nissan Cefiro AE 31 is powered by Exol’s Optima LSX 5W-40 engine oil.

The drifter, Tanupun Suangka (Mr. Drive), said: "In a drift car, high engine power at high revs is essential in order to get a controlled power slide. As a result of using Exol’s Optima LSX 5W-40 engine oil, engine temperature was substantially lower and we achieved exceptionally smooth flow rate results in higher acceleration.
